A turnip!!!

Original post from 11/3/08...

I am 17 weeks today!

How the baby's growing:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.
PS...did I feel something today....or was it just weird bubbles??? I will probably drive myself insane wondering for the next few weeks bc I read that movements can be felt starting at 16 weeks!

Just wanted to drop a line to say I look forward to staying updated on all your progress. This is a great time and one thing for sure is that you can't have too many pictures, seriously.

FLUTTERS!?!?! SO awesome. Can't wait to see your belly jumping around with all the kicks and punches. Are you seriously 17 weeks already? Does it feel like it's flying by? Can't wait to see you soon!

Maybe the baby's name can be "Bubbles Forie"...not even funny, I know! We are excited to read about the amazing journey of your pregnancy. We know you will both be caring, loving, and devoted parents. Looking forward to watching Baby Forie grow up! We love you both! Jess ("JESS!") and Josh

We saw Bridget yesterday and there is a glow of happiness that just circles her being. We are so excited for all the new experiences that little one will bring into our home. Already planning for our "babysitting" mondays. We love you . MOM

This is a very exciting time for all of us. We love you guys so much...and Bridget is such a cutie pa-tootie! You are going to be truly wonderful parents. This will be THE "peak experience"!

And now for a quote from John Hay's book, In Defense of Nature: (here he quotes William Butler Yeats, it gets a little deep, forgive us)-

" Now I know that revelation is from the self, but from that age-long memoried self that shapes the elaborate shell of the mollusc, and the child in the womb, that teaches the birds to make their nests, and that genius is a crisis that joins the buried self for certain moments to our trivial daily mind"

Okay, enough for now...more to follow.

Love,
